Prime Minister Narendra Modi visitied Gujarat and Diu on Wednesday (May 19, 2021) and conducted an aerial survey to review damage caused by Cyclone Tauktae. He approved assistance Rs 1,000 crore for 'immediate relief activities' in Gujarat after conducting an aerial survey of areas hit by cyclone Tauktae in the state, an official release said.

After severe cyclonic storm Tauktae in the west coast, another cyclone -- Yass -- is likely to hit the east coast on May 26-27, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.

The Calcutta High Court adjourned till May 20 the hearing in the Narada sting tape case, in which two West Bengal ministers, an MLA and a former mayor of Kolkata were arrested by the CBI. In view of the adjournment on Wednesday, ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim, Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra and former city mayor Sovan Chatterjee will continue to remain in judicial custody.

The CBI contended in The Bombay High Court that there were no constraints on the agency regarding the scope of its investigation against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. The Maharashtra government has moved the court, seeking a direction to the CBI not to carry out any investigation with regard to two "unnumbered paragraphs" in the FIR lodged by the agency on April 21 against Deshmukh.
