PM Modi urges citizens to visit revamped Kartavya Path in New Delhi

Kartavya Path Inauguration: PM Modi unveiled revamped Kartavya Path on Thursday evening in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-awaited, revamped Kartavya Path - a stretch from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate today at 7 pm amid tight security. The redeveloped path is a part of the ambitious Central Vista Project by the Centre. 

PM Modi also unveiled a grand statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose near India Gate. The Culture Ministry informed that a team of sculptors spent 26,000 man-hours of "intense artistic endeavour" to carve a grand statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

 The statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be installed in the same place where a hologram statue of Netaji was unveiled earlier this year on Parakram Diwas by PM Modi to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's daughter sends message on Kartavya Path inauguration

"Netaji's statue will be replacing King George V's statue, it is of great symbolic value that India has moved to place one of important leaders of freedom struggle at such place where once colonial powers once rested," said Anita Bose Pfaff, daughter of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

PM Modi leaves the venue after inaugurating Kartavya Path

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the crowd after inaugurating the Kartavya Path which was earlier called Rajpath. He said that the redevelopment and renaming of the site is a symbol of leaving behind our colonial past and breaking away from the rules of the British Empire.
