Live: NDA's Harivansh is the new Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha, defeats Opposition candidate

125 votes were polled in favour of NDA's Harivansh Narayan Singh while opposition candidate Hariprasad secured 105 votes.

In a huge win for the NDA, Harivansh Narayan Singh has been elected as the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman by defeating the joint Opposition candidate BK Hariprasad. Elections for the post of the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman were held on Thursday. 125 votes were polled in favour of NDA's Harivansh Narayan Singh while opposition candidate Hariprasad won 105 votes. While Harivansh is a first-time MP of the JD-U, Hariprasad is a three-time parliamentarian of the Congress.
