Mulayam Singh Yadav's last rites held in Saifai; SP patriarch cremated with full state honours

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's last rites were performed on Tuesday (October 11) in his ancestral home in village Saifai in Uttar Pradesh. His son Akhilesh Yadav lit the funeral pyre as hundreds of people turned up to pay their last respects. 

The former Uttar Pradesh CM died aged 82 at a Medanta hospital in Haryana's Gurugram on Monday. His body arrived at Saifai village in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah district on Monday evening.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar were among those who paid tributes to the leader.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, his Chhattisgarh counterpart Bhupesh Baghel, Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao, former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath, Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, NCP leader Praful Patel, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat and the Left leader Sitaram Yechury were among the other dignitaries who paid their tributes to the leader.

Tibetan administration condoles Mulayam Singh Yadav's death
