Radhanpur Assembly Election Results Highlights 2022: BJP candidate Lavingji Muljiji Solanki has won from the Radhanpur seat securing a huge majority. The Radhanpur Vidhansabha or Assembly seat is considered to be a Congress dominated seat. BJP's victory comes as a setback for Congress from the seat. Solanki polled 103925 votes while the Congress candidate Raghubhai Merajbhai Desai got 81405 votes. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Lalabhai Raghubhai Thakor got just 2560 votes, thus losing his deposit. The BJP secured the seat by a margin of 22467 votes. Counting of votes for Gujarat Assembly Elections is underway for other seats. The Radhanpur assembly constituency falls in Patan district and it went to polls on December 5. In 2017, Congress candidate Alpesh Khodaji Thakor won from this seat by defeating BJP's Loving Thakor by 14,857 votes. The Congress got 47.98 percent and BJP got only 39.67 percent votes in 2017. Later Alpesh Thakor joined BJP. In the by-elections elections held in 2019, Congress's Raghubhai Desai won the election by 3,807 votes.
BJP is all set to win 157 seats out of the total 182 seats in Gujarat. The party has broken Congress party's record of winning 149 seats in 1985. Exit polls have already predicted that the BJP will comfortably win a seventh straight term in Gujarat -- an outcome that now equals the Left Front's feat in West Bengal. The BJP's win in Gujarat comes as a huge morale boost for the party. It also enthuse BJP's rank and file, and reinforce the impression that the party will win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. For the Congress, its time to redraw its strategy for the state and upcoming polls. For the AAP, which carried out a high-decibel campaign, the Gujarat results will still be booster shot as it bagged over 12 per cent votes and around four seats.
