Vadgam (SC) Gujarat Assembly Election Result 2022 Highlights: Congress leader and sitting MLA from Vadgam, Jignesh Mevani has retained his seat defeating BJP's Manibhai Jethabhai Vaghela and AAP's candidate Dalpatbhai Dahyabhai Bhatiya. Mevani polled 94765 votes while the Manibhai managed to get 89837 votes. Throughout the counting, both Mevani and Manibhai were exchanging leads before the Congress candidate secured the seat by a margin of 4928 votes. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) canddiate Dalapatbhai candidate got 4493 votes. One of the 182 constituencies is Vadgam which is reserved for SC. Vadgam is situated in the Banaskantha district and falls under Patan Parliament Seat. There are over 40,000 SC voters in the constituency while there are around 10,000 ST voters. According to estimates, Vadgam has around 2,70,000 voters who decided the fate of candidates. The total voter turnout in Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022 was a little over 64 per cent.

BJP is all set to win 157 seats out of the total 182 seats in Gujarat. The party has broken Congress party's record of winning 149 seats in 1985. Exit polls have already predicted that the BJP will comfortably win a seventh straight term in Gujarat -- an outcome that now equals the Left Front's feat in West Bengal. The BJP's win in Gujarat comes as a huge morale boost for the party. It also enthuse BJP's rank and file, and reinforce the impression that the party will win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. For the Congress, its time to redraw its strategy for the state and upcoming polls. For the AAP, which carried out a high-decibel campaign, the Gujarat results will still be booster shot as it bagged over 12 per cent votes and around four seats.
