New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday released the fourth list of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections and finalised the names of 46 more candidates including eight for Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha seats. In its fourth list, the Congress has fielded Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai to contest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the Varanasi parliamentary constituency. Apart from Rai, the grand old party has fielded Digvijay Singh from Rajgarh,  Imran Masood from Saharanpur, Virender Rawat from Haridwar and Danish Ali from Amroha.

The Congress's list named candidates for seven out of nine seats in Tamil Nadu including former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram's son Karti P Chidambaram and S Jothimani, from Sivaganga and Karur, respectively. Former IAS Officer Sasikant Senthil, who quit the government service in 2019 saying democracy was under threat, has been fielded from the reserved Tiruvallur constituency.

As per the seat-sharing deal with the DMK, Congress was allotted 9 seats in Tamil Nadu--Sivaganga, Cuddalore, Krishnagiri, Kanniyakumari, Tiruvallur (SC), Mayiladuthurai, Tirunelveli, Karur and Virudhunagar.

In Maharashtra, Congress has fielded Nagpur West MLA Vikas Thakare from this LS seat against Nitin Gadkari.

Congress' 1st List For Sikkim Assembly Polls 2024 

The Congress party has also released the first list of candidates for the upcoming Sikkim Assembly polls and has named 18 candidates. Sikkim will go to polls for 32 assembly constituencies on April 19, 2024.  In the 2019 Sikkim legislative assembly elections, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) won 17 seats. It formed the government under chief minister Prem Singh Tamang, while the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) won 15 seats.

Polling for the Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in seven phases across the nation from April 19 to June 1. Votes will be counted on June 4.
