New Delhi: MoS Railways and Communication (independent charge) Manoj Sinha forthrightly answered the questions of Zee Regional channels' CEO Jagdeesh Chandra in the show A DIALOGUE WITH JC.
Praising his government's work, the minister said that earlier people used to begin criticising a government by the time it enters the third year of their five-year stint. However, this time, people have realised that the present government "is theirs".
He reiterated that there was no difference in the words and deed of the Modi government.
Mr Sinha added that he was never in the race of becoming the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.
He further appreciated the coordination between the Centre and the UP government.
Applauding the work done by the Yogi Adityanath government, Mr Sinha said the UP CM's political experience is not less than anyone else's.
Speaking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency Varanasi, the telecom minister underlined that a number of projects are being undertaken in 'Kashi'.
According to Mr Sinha, it is eastern UP's luck that the PM is a parliamentarian from Varanasi.
He added that doubling of tracks is done in all the rail sections of UP.
Removing congestion and expanding rail network have been his government's priority, said Mr Sinha.
He also elaborated on the works done in Ghazipur, which helped his constituency in getting connected with the rest of the country, especially four-lane roads.
Commenting on the work done by the Ministry of Communication, he said two lakh towers have been erected in nine months. He also reiterated that mobile companies are under scrutiny for the radiations emitted by them.
He said that anyone now can ask for the information on the level of radiation while sitting in his drawing room by paying Rs 4,000.
The minister also said that people nowadays are using data more than voice calls. This, according to him, is an indication that we are heading towards a less-cash economy.
He also emphasised that BSNL is now earning a profit and delivering better services too.
Speaking on the upcoming Presidential Election, he said it is the Opposition's work to mobilise but the government is trying to make a consensus.
On the latest controversy over 'triple talaq', the minister said it is a matter of women's harassment and self-respect, not politics.
He also said that the PM is personally looking into the barbaric act against our soldiers serving on the border.
Mr Sinha appeared optimistic about the BJP's victory in the 2019 elections, saying its indications are easily visible.
Manoj Sinha is a member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha. He was born on 1st July 1959 and did his M.Tech in civil engineering from IIT BHU.
