PM Narendra Modi addresses NCC rally, asks youth to keep watch on terrorist tendencies among friends

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed a rally of the National Cadet Corps and handed over prizes to the best cadets of the country. 

"NCC cadets have been a pride for India. NCC cadets are not just about uniforms, parades and camps, the NCC is about generating a sense of mission. It creates a feeling of wanting to live life within us."

He added, "The NCC is a display of the strength, the ability within India. The world wonders how in a country where there are more than 1500 languages and dialects, how when a person is affected in Kashmir, the tears fall in Kanyakumari. The NCC experience offers a glimpse of India, India’s strengths and diversities." 

After witnessing a hour long parade by the NCC, the Prime Minister said that the NCC experience offers a glimpse of India, its strength and its diversity.

"Emperors, rulers, governments do not make a nation, but a nation is made by its citizens, youth, farmers, scholars, scientists, workforce, and saints," PM Modi said in his address.

The world wonders how Indians are bound by unity despite so many regions, over 100 languages, 1,500 dialects, and different customs and food habits among others, Modi said.
"It is our country's strength," he said.

Modi underlined that emperors, rulers, governments do not make a nation, but a nation is made by its citizens, youth, farmers, scholars, scientists, workforce, and saints.

He said NCC cadets inspire confidence about the future of India, and instill pride about the strength of our youth.

The Prime Minister appreciated the role of National Cadets Corps (NCC) in furthering the cause of cleanliness. He also called for continuing the movement towards digital transactions.

Modi also exhorted youngsters at the rally to download the BHIM app and contribute to a cashless economy. He said the NCC cadets should educate those around them about digital payments.

Money saved on printing of notes, transportation and ATMs among others could be used for the betterment of the poor, the Prime Minister added. 

Speaking about the central government' demonetisation policy, the Prime Minister stated "India would continue moving towards digital transactions to make the country a less cash society -- an initiative following the spiking of old 500 and 1,000 rupee notes.

"Let's continue the movement towards digital transactions," Modi said, addressing a rally of cadets and officers of the National Cadet Corps here.

"India and particularly India`s youth are adapting to (the) technology very fast," he said and appreciated the role of NCC cadets in the society.

Modi said he felt "confident about the future of India and proud of our Yuva Shakti (youth power)".

Amidst the growing international issue of terrorism, PM Modi also asked the cadets and the youth of the country to keep an eye on terrorist tendencies among their friends. He said that "such tendencies would not only be a problem for the persons themselves, but also for their families and the society at large."
