New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi this morning offered prayers at the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand which reopened today following a six-month winter break.

The Prime Minister was greeted at the airport by Uttarakhand governor KK Paul and Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.


Modi arrived at around 9:30 am at the holiest of the four Himalayan shrines just before it reopened its gates. He took part in an important ritual inside the temple, becoming the first to offer prayers at the shrine at the start of the pilgrimage season.


He was gifted a replica of the shrine. A large crowd gathered at the area to see the Prime Minister.
