New Delhi: External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday told the Members of Parliament that her ministry is keeping a close watch on the incidents of racial attack on Indians living abroad and has got assurance about their safety from the authorities there.
EAM Swaraj made these remarks in Lok Sabha while speaking on the issue of racially motivated attacks against Indian-origin people abroad.
Swaraj said that the US authorities including President Donald Trump, have strongly condemned these incidents and assured full cooperation in these matters.
Referring to the recent attacks on Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Deep Rai, Swaraj said that she had spoken to their families and raised the matter with highest authorities in US.
The US government has assured us that the attacks do not reflect the mindset of the Americans and safety of Indians living there are their top priority, Sushma Swaraj said.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is keeping a close watch on such tragic incidents and working round-the-clock to ensure safety of Indians living abroad.
The firebrand BJP veteran also hit out at Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge for his remarks that the Indian government is insensitive to such incidents.
