Dehradun: Amid raging debate over the issue of triple talaq, a Muslim woman has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to bring change for the sufferers of the practice.
The Uttarakhand woman further said it was better to convert and adopt Hinduism than to face injustice due to `triple talaq` system.
Venting her anger and frustration, the woman hailing from Kichha further said when converted to Hindu, men would not be able to divorce them just by uttering the word `talaq` thrice.
Notably, her sister is a victim of triple talaq.
Covered by a hijab, the unnamed Muslim woman said, "What is the use of spending whole life with a man who can at any point of time desert his wife by saying Talaq, Talaq, Talaq? If this injustice happens in old age, where would the victim go?"
"Today, I am young and why would I spend my whole life fearing triple talaq? It is better to embrace Hinduism and marry a Hindu man who would at least not destroy my life by uttering just three words," she added.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said, "What Modi is doing for the country is very good. What he is doing for women, especially for Muslim women, is very good."
She also hailed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dubbed triple talaq a "bad social practice", saying such practices can be ended by social awakening but stressed that the BJP didn't want a conflict in the society for this.
Meanwhile, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) said that those using triple talaq recklessly and without justification should be made to face social boycott.
Earlier this week, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called for an end to the practice of triple talaq and invoked the disrobing of Draupadi in the Mahabharata to emphasise his point.
"When I see people silent on the raging issue (of triple talaq), the episode from Mahabharata comes to my mind. Draupadi asked the palace - who is responsible for this situation? Who's responsible for this crime? Vidura said those responsible are criminals, those who supported this incident are culprits, those who are silent are responsible," Adityanath said.
Hindu Mahasabha general secretary Dr Pooja Shakun Pandey had last week urged all triple talaq victims to adopt Hinduism if they wanted to lead respectful lives.
