New Delhi: Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday trolled former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi for raking the 'Kashmir issue' and pitching for 'self-determination and independence' of the Valley.
"What is there to say on Afridi's tweet on our Kashmir and UN. Afridi is only looking for UN which in his retarded dictionary means under nineteen - his age bracket. Afridi is celebrating a dismissal of a no ball," the former Kolkata Knight Riders captain tweeted.
Gambhir's response came after Afridi posted on social media, "Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the 'Indian Occupied Kashmir'. Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self -determination and independence. Wonder where are the UN and other international bodies and why aren't they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?"
Media called me for reaction on @SAfridiOfficial tweet on OUR Kashmir & @UN. What’s there to say? Afridi is only looking for @UN which in his retarded dictionary means “UNDER NINTEEN” his age bracket. Media can relax, @SAfridiOfficial is celebrating a dismissal off a no- ball!!!

Interestingly, Afridi in May 2017 in a column for the ICC's official website had written, "Contrary to popular belief, India and Pakistan players get along very well. Of course, there are exceptions like Gautam Gambhir, who dare I say isn’t the friendliest."
“We are unlikely to be found together at a coffee shop anytime soon. We had a heated exchange on the field some years ago and it made headlines all over the world. While I have moved on in life, Gautam for some reason can’t get over it," he had further written.
Earlier in March 2017, Gambhir in an interview to an English Daily had said that "no matter what the age of Afridi is, he will always behave like a 16-year-old".
Both Gambhir and Afridi have featured in some intense India-Pakistan clashes. In 2007, they were involved in a heated verbal spat after the two players had collided when Gambhir was going for a single in Kanpur.
Meanwhile, Afridi earlier also has raised the 'issue of Kashmir'. During the World Twenty20 match against Australia in Mohali in March 2016, he had thanked 'fans from Kashmir' for supporting his team.
The then BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur had called the Pakistani cricketer's remark “politically not correct”.
Afridi retired from international cricket in 2017 and played 27 Tests, 398 ODIs and 98 T20Is for Pakistan. He led his country in the ICC World Cup 2011.
