New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh government told Supreme Court that it will continue travel restrictions between Noida- Delhi and Ghaziabad-Delhi border, allowing only essential service in the wake of increasing COVID-19 cases. UP government's response came while the Supreme Court took up for hearing the petition asking for reopening of the Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad borders to facilitate easier movement of persons throughout the NCR region.

Meanwhile, there will be no travel restriction between Delhi and Haryana as both the state government has decided to allow inter-state movement of vehicle. The Haryana government told the Supreme Court that movement for all persons was allowed to and fro from the Gurgaon border.


The reason for the Uttar Pradesh government to continue the restriction is the sudden spike of 40 percent in the number of coronavirus cases in its districts. The essential services which are allowed include medical services, media, and advocates, good carries, and those involved in essential services. 


Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has asked for the minutes of meeting between the Home Secretary along with Chief Secretaries of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to be filed before the top court by today evening.
