New Delhi: Congress Punjab President Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday, in his first statement after election result trends, said that "The voice of the people is the voice of God.” The remark comes as Congress trails in Punjab that the party won in 2017.

On the election result front, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu is trailing from his constituency Amritsar East seat, according to initial poll trends.
Similarly, his SAD rival Bikram Singh Majithia is also getting dominated from Amritsar East seat by AAP.
Aam Aadmi Party candidate Jeevanjyot Kaur was leading over her nearest rival Majithia by a margin of 590 votes.
The Amritsar East constituency in Amritsar is the most keenly watched electoral contest.
Counting of votes for 117 assembly seats in Punjab is underway
The early trends show that the AAP in Punjab has crossed the halfway mark Punjab. It is leading on 79 seats, followed by Congress (14) and SAD (7).
Meanwhile, AAP leader Raghav Chadha addressed party workers after the latest trends and said that Bhagwant Mann’s government will transform ‘Uthta Punjab’ into ‘Udta Punjab’.
“Punjab will not be known as 'Udta Punjab' from now onwards, but 'Uthta Punjab'... all the credit goes to AAP workers,” said Chadha while addressing party workers after the early projections.
