New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall over several parts of south and northeast India during the next few days. According to IMD, a heavy rainfall spell is likely over extreme south Peninsular and northeast India during the next five days. Heavy showers are expected over Bihar, Jharkhand and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next three days. Heavy rainfall is also expected over northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura over the coming few days.

The eastern part of the country is also expected to witness heavy rainfall till September 6. South Indian states are likely to receive heavy showers with thunderstorms and lightning. The Western Himalayan region and its neighbouring areas are likely to receive heavy falls over the next coming days. Additionally, isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Uttarakhand on September 4.


On the other hand, subdued rainfall activity over the plains of northwest and over central India during the next five days. As per the weather office, the monsoon trough at mean sea level runs north of its normal position.

- Fairly widespread/widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Coastal Karnataka on 02nd, 05th & 06th; North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema on 05th & 06th; Lakshadweep on 02nd, 03rd, 05th & 06th and over Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Mahe and South Interior Karnataka during the next five days.


- Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Jammu & Kashmir on 04th; Himachal Pradesh on 04th & 05th; Uttarakhand during 03rd- 05th and over East Rajasthan on 02nd September, 2022.
