Senior Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav has accused Yogi-Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh of engineering fake encounters. Hitting out at Adityanath, the SP leader said that the BJP leader does not even talk like a Chief Minister.
“Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is the second most powerful person in India after the Prime Minister, and he uses phrases like 'thok diye jayenge', is this how a CM talks? We all know what kind of people use this language,” he said, adding, “Everyday fake encounters are happening in the state.”
The attack came on a day when a wanted criminal with Rs 20,000 bounty on his head was injuring in firing by Uttar Pradesh police during an encounter in Muzaffarnagar area. In a fierce gunbattle between the police and criminal shots were fired at the cops first wherein SHO Virendra Kasana escaped injury as a bullet hit his bullet-proof jacket.
Two other criminals, however, escaped unhurt during the encounter. While the police went for combing operation in adjoining forest area to trace them, but failed to nab them. A Hyundai Santro car, and a gun and bullets in the possession of the wanted criminal, were recovered by the police following the encounter. Several tools used for cow slaughter were also recovered by the cops.
Ratanpuri police personnel in the area got a tip-off about some criminals were going in a Santro car to carry out an incident. Acting swiftly, the police cordoned off the area and began checking of all vehicles.
When they discovered a Santro car approaching them, the cops signalled the driver to stop. But instead of stopping the vehicle, the criminals opened fire on police personnel and fled the spot. The cops chased them. Realising threat, the criminals abandoned the car and ran towards sugarcane fields near the road to Salawa.
The cops continued to chase them and fired at the criminals wherein wanted criminal Gulzar suffered injuries. He was later shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
