New Delhi: Storming his way into the telecom industry, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani early this month announced free voice calls and free national roaming along with rock- bottom data prices on his new Reliance Jio network that debuted on September 5.
While Ambani's new venture has let to severe tariff war among telecom companies like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and BSNL, there has been a lot of customer push from the existing network to Reliance Jio.
Customers can ealily opt out of their telecom operator and migrate to Reliance Jio using the Mobile Number Portability (MNP).
However, telecom operators such as Vodafone, Idea and Airtel are reportedly not letting the users port to Reliance Jio.
As per a report in the Economic Times, Jio has recently written a letter to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) stating that these operators are rejecting almost all requests by customers to port their numbers to the Jio network.
Adressing the letter to Trai Chairman RS Sharma, RJio said that the regulator "must direct the dominant incumbent operators to comply with the licence terms and obligations", ET said.
Vodafone and Airtel have however refuted the charges of rejecting MNP requests from customer, while Idea has not responded to the mail, ET further added.
