PULWAMA: The Indian Army on Friday said that 115 terrorists are present in South Kashmir. Major General BS Raju, who heads the Victor Force, said that there are 99 local terrorists and around 15 foreign terrorists on the soil. He added that 80 terrorists have been killed in the last 6 months.
The statement comes on a day when two security personnel and a terrorist were killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Samboora village on Thursday night.
The slain terrorist has been identified as Badar of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The encounter broke out after the security forces received inputs about two terrorists being holed up inside a house in Pulwama.
The operation was jointly conducted by the troops of 50 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group, and Central Reserve Police.
Major General BS Raju had in August said that such a data highlights the level of insurgency existing in the region and also shows that the number of local terrorists engaging in violence are far more than the foreign ones.
Appealing to the youth, Major General Raju had then stated that young boys should stay away from terrorism and every assistance will be given to rehabilitate the ones who want to surrender.
