4 BSF personnel dead, 3 injured as Pakistan Rangers violate ceasefire again in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba

The ceasefire took place along the International Borders in Chambliyal sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district.

SRINAGAR: Four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel lost their lives while three injured after Pakistan Rangers violated the ceasefire once again in Chambliyal sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district.

The ceasefire took place along the International Borders in Jammu and Kashmir.

Last month, both India and Pakistan had mutually decided to respect ceasefire pact of 2003 and take  sincere measures to improve the existing situation to ensure peace and avoidance of hardships to the civilians along the borders. A Ramazan ceasefire was also initiated on May 16 with the Centre directed security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to follow what it called "non-initiation of combat operations" during the holy month of Ramzan.

However, Pakistan blatantly violated the terms and continued to fire from across the border.

Earlier this month, two BSF personnel and 13 civilians lost their lives in an unprovoked and indiscriminate firing by Pakistani rangers in Akhnoor, Kanachak and Khour sectors of Jammu district.

Reacting to it, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that India will honour the Ramzan ceasefire but will retaliate to any unprovoked attack.

“It's our business to guard the border and we won't stop if we're provoked. We shall be alert and ensure that no unprovoked attack goes without response. It's our duty to keep India safe,” she said.
