Srinagar: In a major breakthrough, Al-Badr terrorist Muzzafar Ahmed was killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district on Friday.

Ahmed, who was earlier associated with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), was killed in a joint operation by the Army and J&K Police.


Giving details about the encounter, Rashtriya Rifles personnel, Anoop Nair said, as the security agencies received inputs on Ahmed the area was cordoned off, following which a gun battle took place.


Nair claimed Ahmed's encounter as a big achievement.


“We have broken the backbone of Al-Badr group which was trying to establish in Kashmir,” Nair said.


The RR personnel confirmed that Muzzafar Ahmed was a former LeT terrorist, but was ousted by the group.



Divulging further details about the slain terrorist Nair said, after being ousted from LeT, Ahmed joined Al-Badr and claimed to be its main leader.


The Al-Badr terrorist was a close aide of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Qayum Nazar.
