"Discussed the way forward in Kashmir with Dr Farooq Abdullah when he called on me today (sic)," Yechury tweeted after the meeting held at CPI(M) headquarters.

Abdullah, the National Conference leader, earlier met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged him to address the issue politically.

Abdullah was elected to the Lok Sabha from Srinagar in the bypoll held on April 9.

The bypoll saw the lowest turnout of 7.1 per cent and widespread violence in which eight people were killed.
