Good News! 26 boys, 2 girls from Indian Army’s initiative 'Kashmir Super 40' crack IIT-JEE Mains, 2017

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Main, results of were announced on April 27.

Delhi: Indian Army’s 'Kashmir Super 40' initiative to coach the Jammu and Kashmir youth for engineering entrance exams has seen 26 boys and two girls from the state cracking IIT-JEE Mains, 2017.

They hail from south Kashmir (9), North Kashmir (10), Kargil/Ladakh (7) and Jammu region (2).

Under this scheme, candidates are selected by the Army through an entrance test.

After this, interviews are conducted at various colleges in J&K from April to May.

The Army provides free coaching and lodging to the students.

The initiative is sponsored under CSR initiative by Petronet LNG.

From now on, the Army will provide coaching to 50 students, out of which five will be girls.

They are underprivileged but talented students.

These students have also done well in other engineering colleges examinations also.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Main, results of were announced on April 27.

Out of the over 11.8 lakh students who appeared for the examination for admission to various IITs and engineering colleges, around 2.2 lakhs qualified for the second and final round - the JEE (Advanced).

The exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to various government-approved engineering colleges, including the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs).

Over 11.8 lakh students had appeared for the exam at 1,781 centres in 113 cities across the country.

The cut-off for the JEE-Advanced has been set at 81 marks.

The examination was held on April 2 (offline) and April 8 and 9 (online).
