JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir government would explore every possibility to harness and tap the tourism potential in the border district of Poonch, state Tourism minister Tassaduq Mufti said.
The minister, who was on a tour of Poonch and Rajouri districts, said the government would explore the possibility of tapping the tourism potential of Pir Panjal region with particular focus on promoting pilgrimage, heritage, leisure and ecotourism in Poonch.
“The government is contemplating to identify some virgin areas and build required infrastructure in these places,” Mufti said. Mufti, who visited some important places like Nangali Sahib Gurdawara and Sain Mira Bakash shrine at Guntrian yesterday, said pilgrimage tourism can be promoted manifold in these places by developing infrastructure to accommodate huge flow of tourist.
The minister also visited Poonch fort, located at the heart of the town, to see the further scope of its renovation and beautification. During his visit, Mufti stressed on protection and upkeep of heritage sites.
