Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police put out “wanted” posters of three terrorists, associated with terror groups Lashkar-e-Toiba and Hizbul Mujahideen, involved in killing of Army officer Lt Ummer Fayaz in Shopian on Friday.
Terrorists abducted and murdered the 22-year-old Kashmiri Army officer from a family wedding in J&K's troubled Shopian district.
Fayaz was abducted by five to six militants from his relative's house in south Kashmir's Shopian Tuesday night.
Hailing from Kulgam district, Fayaz was in the Infantry and was posted in Akhnoor area in Jammu. He was commissioned in the Army in December last year.
A hockey and volleyball player, Fayaz had passed out from National Defence Academy and was to go for the Young Officers' Course in September. He was posted with the Rajputana Rifles in the Akhnoor sector.
The Army has vowed to punish killers of its young officer.
General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Command Lt Gen Abhay Krishna, who is the Colonel of the Rajputana Rifles, said, "This marks a watershed moment in Kashmir Valley and people of Kashmir will decisively turn the tide against terrorism."
