The senior journalist was shot dead in Srinagar by unidentified assailants on Thursday.
Srinagar: Seeking the help of general public, the Srinagar Police on Friday released the photograph of the fourth suspect in the murder case of Rising Kashmir editor-in-chief Shujaat Bukhari.
“Srinagar Police seeks help of the general public to identify one more suspect involved in terror attack at press enclave, Srinagar,” shared Srinagar police on its official Twitter and Facebook accounts.
The photo shows a screengrab of a bearded man surveying the murdered journalist's car. The video was reportedly shot by a passerby.
The senior journalist was shot dead in Press Colony near Lal Chowk in Srinagar by unidentified assailants on Thursday. The journalist was then rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. According to reports, Bukhari’s two personal security officers also got critically injured in the attack.
Earlier today, the state police had released two screen grabs showing the suspects in connection with the killing of senior journalist, seeking help of general public in identifying him.
According to officials, Bukhari, who was in his 50s, was leaving his office for an iftar party when he was shot. While one of the personal security officers guarding him was killed, another policeman and a civilian were injured in the attack.
Shafat Mir, an employee of Rising Kashmir, told Zee News that there were four assailants who carried out the attack in the crowded area of Srinagar. "We are not sure as to how the attackers came. They might have not used any vehicle as the place is very crowded. It is a busy street and remains always crowded, and since it was probably the last day of Ramzan, the place was bustling with Eid shoppers," said Shafat.
