Contractor killed in Jharkhand's Giridih district

Giridih (Jharkhand): A contractor and a former member of a panchayat samity was killed by unidentified persons in Giridih district, police today said.

The victim identified as Samsher Jangi, was a petty contractor and his body was found with his throat slit in a naxal- affected area under the Khukra police station limit, police said.
Superintendent of Police Akhilelsh V Beriar confirmed the incident, stating that as the place of occurrence was a naxal-affected, the police team preferred to reach the spot by foot.

He said the reason behind the killing as well as the identity of the killers would be known after the police team reached the spot to investigate.

Meanwhile, the villagers have put up road blockade demanding adequate compensation to the victim's family.
