Ranchi: A Jharkhand-based girl allegedly died of starvation after her mother was denied ration over Aadhaar linkage. As per reports, the family's ration cards were not linked with Aadhaar.
The incident took place in Karimati village of Jharkhand's Simdega district.
11-year-old Santoshi Kumari reportedly starved for nearly eight days ahead of dying.
Kumari, who died on September 28, came from an impoverished family. Owing to no fixed income, the family is entitled for subsidised rations under the National Food Security Act, said reports.
"I went to get rice, but I was told that no ration will be given to me. My daughter died saying 'Bhat-bhat' (rice)," said Kumari's mother, Koyli Devi.

"Clear instructions were given that ration shouldn't be denied to those who haven't linked ration card with Aadhaar," said Jharkhand Food and Supply Minister Saryu Rai.
