Bengaluru: In yet another shocking incident, a woman was allegedly molested by a group of people for not knowing the Kannada language.
The victim approached the city police and registered a complaint against unknown persons after which the four people were arrested.
The incident took place in north Bengaluru on Sunday at 9:30 pm.
According to a media report, all the four arrested were recognized by the victim.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that while she and her friend got into an argument with few people on the street while they were returning to their home. According to the woman, one of the accused in the group objected to her inability to speak in the Kannada language.
"Initially, they began telling us something in Kannada, but we couldn't understand much other than that they wanted us to move. They got aggressive and began asking why we couldn't speak in Kannada, though we were living and eating in Karnataka," the woman told CNN-News18.
"You are not a local. You don't know how to speak Kannada. You should be begging on your knees and ask for forgiveness failing to which you will be assaulted; one of the accused told us," she said.
The woman also alleged that her friend, who was accompanying her and was present at the time of the incident, was slapped by one of the molesters.
"I do not want to stay in this city. I will go back to my parents," the woman was quoted saying by CNN-News18.
Since the shocking mass molestation that took place on the New Year's even in the city, Bengaluru has witnessed a steep rise in molestation cases against women.
