Bengaluru: The Lalbagh Botanical Garden will offer another attraction to visiting tourists.

According to a report, the famous garden will soon have 'mini-Niagara falls' on its premises.

The first phase of the blueprint to recreate the mini version of the world's biggest waterfall is expected to be ready within a week.

According to The Times of India report, the waterfall will be created from the water of the existing small and big lakes in the garden.

Speaking to Bangalore Mirror, Dr M Jagadish, joint director, parks and garden, Lalbagh, confirmed that within a week the work on the replica of the Niagara falls would be started and in six months the project would be complete.

The height of the waterfall will be 25 feet and width 120 feet. The cost is expected to be Rs 2.7 crore.

While Dr Jagadish assured that there will not be a problem of scarcity of water in the lake throughout the year.

Lalbagh Botanical Garden is located in the heart of the city, about 4 km from the State Legislature – the Vidhana Soudha. Most parts of the garden is surrounded by different blocks of the beautiful residential layout – Jayanagar.

The Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Bangalore is of royal origin and was started initially as a private garden in an area of 40 acres by Hyder Ali, one of the most famous rulers of old Mysore in 1760. Initially designed in Mughal style, on the model of an extensive garden at Sira in Tumkur near Bangalore, this garden was further developed by Hyder Ali’s son Tipu Sultan and subsequently by the British and Indian doyens of horticulture by extension of area and addition of a number of plant species.
