BJP tweets video of protest in Kerala, deletes soon after getting trolled

KOCHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday tweeted a video of protest by party members over the standoff on entry of women of all age groups into the Sabarimala shrine. However, soon after the video was tweeted, the BJP was trolled on social media for the protest shown in the video.

Why? Because the video titled "protest against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan by BJP activists at Chengannur", showed two men walking along a deserted street and finally going in different directions.

Facing criticism on social media, the Kerala BJP's official handle soon deleted the video. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah was also among those who mocked the BJP on social media.

Earlier on Sunday, the central BJP delegation had met Kerala Governor P Sathasivam and sought his urgent intervention to ensure peace and tranquillity returns to Sabarimala. The BJP asserted that the present situation in the state was akin to an 'undeclared emergency' imposed by the Pinarayi Vijayan government.

The eight-member BJP delegation, led by Saroj Pandey, BJP General Secretary, submitted a petition, demanding the lifting of prohibitory orders in and around Sabarimala.
