TRIVANDRUM: As the state reels under heavy downpour caused by Cyclone Ockhi, local people on Saturday blocked the National Highway here for at least five hours in the in demand of better relief measures.

Agitated locals in Trivandrum's Thumba also demanded the rescue of six fishermen who went missing from the area.
Three out of the six fishermen were rescued and brought to Trivandrum Air Force Station. They were admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Cyclone Ockhi has caused severe damages to the southern districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu with the death toll mounting to 12.
Meanwhile, Indian Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard have jointly launched rescue operations.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called state Chief Minister Palaiswami and enquired about the situation after the 'deadly' storm, that also hit parts of Kerala.
