While the BJP has been highlighting the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government in the last five years, rival parties have attempted to draw attention to alleged shortcomings. In a bid to woo voters, parties and leaders are going the extra distance to make promises galore.

Which way is the political wind blowing in India? Can PM Modi get another term in office? Will Rahul Gandhi manage to have an impact? Or can regional leaders rise in stature? India Ka DNA tracks the election pulse and brings together leaders for the views that matter.

Here are the all the updates from India Ka DNA 2019:

BJP president Amit Shah: In this election Mamata Banerjee will realise the power of the voter.

BJP president Amit Shah: Rahul Gandhi spoke about Hindu terror to the American envoy. He said Lashkar-e-Taiba is not a problem, Hindu terror is.

BJP president Amit Shah: Congress released terrorists and was soft on them. There is no Hindu terror and today the world is talking about Pakistan-sponsored terror. That is BJP's achievement.

BJP president Amit Shah: Congress released terrorists and was soft on them. There is no Hindu terror and today the world is talking about Pakistan-sponsored terror. That is BJP's achievement.

BJP president Amit Shah: BJP's aim is to change the country and not worry about Lutyens Delhi and its media. Congress coined Hindu terror for vote bank. Now even the court has ruled that the case was cooked up.

BJP president Amit Shah: BJP never brought an impeachment motion, it was the Congress which did so. They imposed Emergency. Now they are preaching us.

BJP president Amit Shah: BJP formed government in J&K with PDP as per the wishes of the residents of the state. It was working fine but when there were question marks on security, BJP immediately pulled out and the government fell.

BJP president Amit Shah: Jawaharlal Nehru's policies are responsible for the Kashmir problem.

BJP president Amit Shah: India looked China in the eyes during Doklam.

BJP president Amit Shah: I am confident we will get the mandate in this election too and in 5 years India will be a strong power.

BJP president Amit Shah: Omar Abdullah's dream of having a PM post in Kashmir will remain in dream whether we are in power of opposition

BJP president Amit Shah: Whatever may be the situation but under Modi's leadership our forces will achieve victory

BJP president Amit Shah: BJP workers need to work hard and ensure a massive mandate and majority

BJP president Amit Shah: Amethi is difficult for Rahul Gandhi this time

BJP president Amit Shah: I am satisfied with the post of BJP president. If I had taken shortcuts in politics, I would not have been where I am today

BJP president Amit Shah: I am a booth level worker, I have pasted posters and worked for the party.

BJP president Amit Shah: In BJP it is the party which decides on a worker's role. I cannot decide what I will do. I have won MLA elections five times and now I am in Rajya Sabha. It is my good fortune that I am contesting Lok Sabha election now and my party has given me a work to do.

BJP president Amit Shah: Congress will remain out of power for at least 5 years.

BJP president Amit Shah: SP and BSP alliance have a vote share but we have got new voters who are backing BJP. Almost 4.11 crore people in UP have benefitted from central government's schemes. We have won many elections on the basis of work done by Narendra Modi.

BJP president Amit Shah: BJP will improve its performance in West Bengal, Odisha and other areas of the country. We are seeking votes based on our performance.

BJP president Amit Shah: I never said SP-BSP alliance will hurt us. We need to be careful, that is what we are doing. We won 73 seats in 2014 and then in 2017, BJP won 325 seats. In 2017, SP and Congress came together but could not do anything.

BJP president Amit Shah: Congress and BJP have direct contest in 33 per cent of the country and there are other opponents in 66 per cent of the country. I am a small person compared to Rahul Gandhi.

BJP president Amit Shah: Congress slogan has not changed in 55 years, they are still talking in the same language as Jawaharlal Nehru's. We have provided electricity, Ayushman Yojna, toilets, houses for the poor. Congress gives slogans while BJP works.

BJP president Amit Shah: Ram Mandir issue is in the court. I hope it will be resolved soon. Article 35A is stuck in Rajya Sabha and by 2020, BJP will have a majority there too.

BJP president Amit Shah: Election is in preliminary stage and any number is too premature. But Narendra Modi will win a bigger mandate in 2019 than 2014.

BJP president Amit Shah: Chaiwala was used to mock Narendra Modi. Those who live in ivory tower have no idea of what is happening on the ground. Since Modiji was abused, the entire country came forward and declared that we are also chowkidar.

BJP president Amit Shah: Narendra Modi's personality is about taking tough and quick decisions. India is the third country after USA and Israel to avenge the attacks on its soldiers

BJP president Amit Shah: Pulwama attack's timing was not decided by the government. It was carried out by Pakistan-supported terrorists. Should we have waited for elections to counter attack? We will give a befitting reply to terror attacks.

BJP president Amit Shah: Citizens of the country should always think about the security of the country. Country's security should be an election agenda. Every country must think about security and it should become a criteria for voting.

BJP president Amit Shah: There is a mahagathbandhan but their is no synchronisation among its constituents. These alliance do not last.

BJP president Amit Shah: In five years the biggest change has been than vote bank is a personal property of some leaders but now the voter thinks independently and casts it accordingly

BJP president Amit Shah: The value of Indian passport has increased in the last five years.

BJP president Amit Shah: There were a lot of expectations and I believe that we have met them. In some cases we have exceeded the expectations. Modiji monitored all the work and now the entire world is looking towards India

BJP president Amit Shah: Every election in a challenge. BJP workers do not take any election lightly. There is Modi wave in this election too.

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar: Crimes like rape are social evils. We have punitive action too for such crimes and we are also trying to bring in a social change. Haryana has the death penalty for those who rape a child below 12 years of age.

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar: The country comes first for the BJP.

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar: Narendra Modi gave full freedom to the armed forces and they have destroyed terror camps inside Pakistan. Just few days back our scientists carried out ASAT missile test.

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar: In 2014 we outlined our vision. In 2019 we have our own achievements and I am sure voters will repose their faith in Narendra Modi again.

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: Modiji wants India to be one of the strongest in science and technology and we are all committed towards achieving it.

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: Now Modiji has added Jai Anusandhan to it.

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: Atal Bihari Vajpayee conducted nuclear tests and added jai vigyan to the slogan Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: I have never taken a decision on my role in the party. Whatever responsibility the party assigns to me, I will accept it and give my best.

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: Only the Atal Bihari Vaipayee government introduced the bill for full statehood of Delhi. But that bill lapsed. But can you hand over a state to a lawless and anarchic government?

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: I have seen Narendra Modi for the last 40 years. I have seen him as a chief minister for 13 years and in last 5 years I have seen him as the prime minister of India. He works tirelessly and selflessly for the country.

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: Every honest Indian is a nationalist.

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: India is on course to meet all the international parametres on environment. The PM has been awarded several times by various international organisation for good work in improving and cleaning the environment.

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: The country is with Narendra Modi. On his appeal lakhs of people added chowkidar to their social media handles. So the mood of the country is clear.

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: I personally wanted APP and Congress alliance as it will give immense satisfaction in defeating them if they are together than if they fight separately

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: Commenting on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is a wastage of time. He has degenerated the political discourse.

Science and technology minister Dr Harshvardhan: India has rediscovered its DNA under Narendra Modi.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: I am attached emotionally to the people. This relationship will continue till my death. I love children. I have seen in my childhood that the son was loved more than daughter. I wanted to change this. I started many schemes for the girl child. So girls started calling Mama and soon even the boys started calling me the same.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: Opposition alliances are thagbandhan

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: BJP will win 300 seats alone and NDA will touch 400.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: Narendra Modi has not competition.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: Congress questions our forces. What kind of politics is this? We will not attack someone, but will not let any attack go unanswered. This is Narendra Modi's message.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: Congress leadership is trying to project a Hindu face just for election. It coined Hindu terror. A Hindu can never be a terrorist.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: As sun rises from the east, so will Narendra Modi be the PM again on May 23.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: Leadership is the main issue, on one side there is Narendra Modi and chowkidar. There is no one in the opposition camp. There are too many PM candidates in the opposition camp.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: Under Narendra Modi there is a new India, a strong India. Age of dynasty politics is over now

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: Law and order is deteriorating in the state day by day. When I became the CM I told my police officers that Madhya Pradesh will have either dacoits of Shivraj Singh Chauhan. Law and order in Madhya Pradesh means "paisa lao (law) aur order le jao. That is why I said Tiger abhi zinda hai".

Shivraj Singh Chauhan: Rahul Gandhi is a habitual liar. Congress government has mocked the poor and done nothing for them. Now he is talking about surgical strike on poverty.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan: Congress government in Madhya Pradesh has not done anything for the farmers. They have not yet waived the loan of the farmers.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan: Rahul Gandhi has made India April Fool especially the farmers of Madhya Pradesh. But the voters of Madhya Pradesh will give us more seats in the state. Congress government in Madhya Pradesh is on crutches.

Uma Bharti: There has been a lot of focus on women now. Earlier women were made ministers of portfolios like women and child welfare etc. Now a woman is the defence minister and is conducting strikes across the border.

Uma Bharti: Congress leaders are living in Robert Vadraism. Robert Vadraism is about making money, enjoying a rich lifestyle, going to gym.

Uma Bharti: Security and development of the country are the biggest issues in this election.

Uma Bharti: This election will see people voting against the opposition and not against the government. Both government and opposition have the same responsibilities in a democracy and the opposition has failed. Narendra Modi has faced the most intolerance in the country.

Uma Bharti: Rahul Gandhi's idea of employment is what Robert Vadra is. My idea of employment is about the people who have benefitted from the schemes of the government.

Uma Bharti: BJP's main opposition in 2019 is our own expectation. Modi's biggest achievement has been that he ensures that every Indian is proud of his country.

Uma Bharti: Smriti Irani has worked very hard in Amethi. There was no development in Amethi and now Smriti has worked so hard that Rahul Gandhi will lose. So he is fighting from a second seat. Gandhis have no patent on Amethi

Uma Bharti: We will benefit from the SP-BSP alliance as BJP is prepared now. The bypolls in UP in the last two years has given us time to work harder and now the scenario has changed. BJP will win in UP.

Uma Bharti: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is ill-informed about Ram lala and Ayodhya. She must get her facts right. She is trying to divert attention from husband's misdeeds.

Uma Bharti: Our agitation was about Ram lala and everyone agrees that his place is in Ayodhya. I appeals to all parties and all sections of the society to help in building the Ram temple in Ayodhya

Uma Bharti: I have been addressing rallies. In BJP politics is not just contesting elections but it is mostly about serving the people. They work for the party and ensures its win in elections.

Uma Bharti: Ganga is about life, I will continue to serve it till my last breath and also continue to do politics too.

Uma Bharti: I became a minister to look after and clean Ganga. After working for 2 years, I wanted to leave and go between the people. I spoke to BJP chief Amit Shah and he respected my decision.

Uma Bharti: The Muslims who stayed back in India after the parition believed that they will be safe here have a bright future in the country. Others went to Pakistan. India believes in development for all.

Smriti Irani: Modi will once again become the pradhan sewak on May 23.

Smriti Irani: My biggest achievement will be when on May 23 Rahul Gandhi loses from Amethi

Smriti Irani: The opposition is just trying to ensure that Indians are not proud of the achievements of the scientists and others.

Smriti Irani: Why should not the PM tell the country about a massive achievement like ASAT missile?

Smriti Irani: Opposition has politicised every institution like Supreme Court, Army and others. Congress tried to rattle Modi but he did not waver in his commitment to work for the development of the country

Smriti Irani: Our party believes that we should build our path to success on the barbs thrown by the opposition

Smriti Irani: Congress has always worked for its own development, never did the party work for the country.

Smriti Irani: Why was the government sitting quietly after 2008 Mumbai attacks? When we carried out strikes after Uri and Balakot, the opposition questions the action.

Smriti Irani: The factor in 2019 is that voters want Modi as PM again

Smriti Irani: SP-BSP have always been at loggerheads. Mahamilawat only talks about Modi and removing him.

Smriti Irani: The country is seeing if their MP is working in Parliament of just winking there

Smriti Irani: I feel not only Priyanka but all of Rahul's relatives should come into politics

Smriti Irani: Congress president does not have the caliber to work for India's development.

Smriti Irani: I come from a very simple family and not a royal family. India's DNA has changed. There is no competition between a simple person and a dynast.

Smriti Irani: India's DNA has always been about hardworking people, respecting women, development.

Smriti Irani: Why is Congress president fighting from two seats if there is no Modi wave? The leader who is not sure of winning from his stronghold is talking about there being no Modi wave.

Smriti Irani: Congress workers in Amethi asked Rahul to contest from a second seat as they are not sure of winning. So he is looking for a safe seat. He won by just over 1 lakh vote. Amethi voters want development, and BJP cadre has worked a lot. Congress did not win a single Assembly seat in the 2017 Assembly election. "Jaisi karni waisi bharni".

Smriti Irani: Our fight is against corruption and dynasty. It is not against Rahul.

Smriti Irani: My first job was to meet Yogiji and got an embankment built in a village in Amethi that was facing threat from a river. It was the first time in 55 years that an embankment in Pipri village of Amethi and the credit goes to Yogiji and Modiji

Smriti Irani, Textiles minister: BJP is contesting from Amethi and I am just a representative. My fight against Rahul Gandhi is not personal. The fight is against an ideology.

JD(U) spokesperson KC Tyagi: We would have been very happy if the opposition had praised the action against terror groups and stood with the government on Pulwama

JD(U) spokesperson KC Tyagi: Whoever is in power benefits from the work carried out by the government.

JD(U) spokesperson KC Tyagi: Congress has killed the Constitution several times. Congress imposed Emergency and now it is talking about Constitution and democracy.

Akhilesh Yadav: Why should we explain what we plan to do? BJP will copy it

Akhilesh Yadav: All opposition parties are working to ensure wins in maximum number of seats

Akhilesh Yadav: Mahagathbandhan will give a new government and a new PM to the country

Akhilesh Yadav: Mulayam Singh Yadav's last speech in Parliament was about courtesy and etiquette. As per the tradition, he gave his best wishes to PM Modi. He had also wished the best to Manmohan Singh in 2014. But did Manmohan Singh win?

Akhilesh Yadav: BJP is just copying schemes launched by the SP government. Even the Congress is doing the same.

Akhilesh Yadav: SP-BSP-RLD will decimate the BJP in UP. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka can work on their strategy.

Akhilesh Yadav: I do not need a teleprompter. I can talk about the development work by my government without any help.

Akhilesh Yadav: SP workers support the BSP and vice versa. We will ensure the win of our alliance. Our votes will be transferable.

Akhilesh Yadav: During the rally in Meerut, the PM did not speak about any development work related to Uttar Pradesh. Even the chief minister in his Ghaziabad rally did not talk about any achievement. SP-BSP alliance is about the people. We have learnt this from BJP and they have 40 alliance across the country. SP has two allies and we have a scope for 38 more.

Akhilesh Yadav: IAF's best aircraft Sukhoi was bought when Mulayam Singh Yadav was the defence minister. BJP has done what it had to do. Now the 2019 election will have  anew winner and a new prime minister

Akhilesh Yadav: Mulayam Singh Yadav will register his biggest win from Mainpuri. There has been a lot of development and the biggest example is the Lucknow-Agra expressway where  IAF can land its aircraft.

Next up is Akhilesh Yadav, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Chief Akhilesh Yadav

Nirmala Sitharaman: India has not seen a government which works 24x7 for the development of the country. PM talks directly to the people. The country wants a strong and clean government. So it is again Modi sarkar.

Nirmala Sitharaman: Even in 2014 there was nothing wrong with India's DNA. There was a problem with the DNA of some people and they are still resisting it.

Nirmala Sitharaman: He fears losing from Amethi and that is why he is contesting from a second seat

Nirmala Sitharaman: Why is Rahul Gandhi contesting from a second constituency even if it is symbolic? He won from Amethi thrice but did not develop it. Even after losing from Amethi, Smriti Irani has been working there. Rahul Gandhi is looking for a safe seat and so he is contesting from Wayanad.

Nirmala Sitharaman: A positive outcome from China on Masood Azhar is to declare him a terrorist.

Nirmala Sitharaman: Pakistan has the proof but it will not take action against terrorists

Nirmala Sitharaman: UPA did not act against terrorists in 2008 even when there was no election.

Nirmala Sitharaman: Balakot airstrike would have happened irrespective of elections. Our work is to secure the country and take action against terrorists.

Nirmala Sitharaman: The opposition cannot come to power but if they come to power after 10-15 years, will they carry out an investigation? There is nothing to investigate

Nirmala Sitharaman: If the forces have best weapons, then their morale is high. So there is this talk about Rafale. Rafale is a manufactured controversy. Congress has never done a defence deal without dalals. Under Arun Jaitley, Manohar Parikkar and my tenure, there was no controversy. Under Modi decisions are taken only on merit

Nirmala Sitharaman: There is no estimate on the number of terrorists killed in Balakot. Balakot centre had terrorists for training. Several fidayeen trainers were called in for the camp. These details are there in Pakistani media and social media.

Nirmala Sitharaman: Even during the 2016 surgical strikes, the opposition asked for proof. The clamour died when the government released those proof. Should the government release such proofs? Government and political parties should work for the country.

Nirmala Sitharaman:Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was rooted, he was not thinking about any glory after the aerial battle. He did his job and he is the perfect soldier.

Nirmala Sitharaman: We were relieved that Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was back on Indian soil. IAF officers told me that if someone needs a tonic of motivation, then that person should meet Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. He was full of energy. It is all due to his training.

Nirmala Sitharaman: Balakot airstrikes are historic. There was a terror attack and 40 soldiers were martyred. A CCS meeting took place and several other agencies were involved in carrying out the airstrikes. Different people were monitoring  the airstrike. At 4 am, I received the message that our pilots were back safe. It was then that I felt relieved.

Nirmala Sitharaman: I cannot rate myself as the defence minister. A lot could have been done in 10 years of UPA. But those 10 years were wasted. They could have done a lot but nothing was done in those 10 years.

Nirmala Sitharaman: I do not consider my tenure as Defence Minister as exciting but it is exciting. I have learnt a lot. I thank the prime minister and the party. I am very blessed to have got this opportunity. There are many pending tasks. We have to do a lot.

Nirmala Sitharaman: ASAT missile test could have been announced by the scientists but it was a massive achievement. If someone else other than the prime minister announces it, then it will not have the same value. It is a defensive measure and is not meant to wage a war. Such an announcement has to come from the prime minister.

Nirmala Sitharaman: Now, the opposition just takes the party line but the public can see through it

Nirmala Sitharaman: I am pained by the voices which are demanding proof of Balakot airstrikes. In 1971, there was Jan Sangh in the opposition and Atal Bihari Vajpayee stood with the government and praised the military action. Now the stand of opposition is there for all to see.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: Muslims are as much nationalists as any other section of the society

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: Government wants Ram Temple in Ayodhya within the frameworks of the Constitution

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: Muslims are not against Ram Mandir in Ayodhya

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: Triple Talaq is a social evil. It should be eradicated just like other social evils

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: BJP works for the development for all sections and religions. Our dharma is the development of the country

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: There has been no major riot under the Modi regime. During the Congress rule riots occurred regularly and used to continue for months

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: Schemes like Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana are for all Indians

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: BJP does not believe in Hindus and Muslims. The party is for all Indians.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: Tiffin, Teacher and Toilet scheme has been launched for madrasas

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: Several schemes have been launched in the last 5 years for the development and betterment of Muslims

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: If it is achche din for the country, then it will be achche din for everyone including all the Hindus and Muslims

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: At least 40% of the Muslims will vote for BJP. Modi has never spoken about only the Hindus, he always talks about 125 crore Indians

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: There has been no discrimination against any section of the society in the last 5 years

Tej Pratap Yadav: I respect Narendra Modi as the PM of India. But he has fooled the youngsters. Rahul Gandhi is a youth leader who has can drive the youngsters of the country.

Tej Pratap Yadav: Our fight is against Narendra Modi and RSS. But I want to remain in Bihar politics. I will protest and fight against elements who try to sideline RJD workers:

Tej Pratap Yadav: I will fight for RJD workers. Those with Tejashwi are giving him the wrong advice. They are instigating our fight. Tejashwi is my younger brother. He has my best wishes. But I want to warn Tejashwi to be aware of his adviser. They are giving him a wrong picture.

Tej Pratap Yadav: Lalu-Rabri morcha is a part of RJD. I will not form a new party. I will contest from Saran as an independent as this seat is a bastion of Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi. I will contest from Saran even if RJD has a candidate from Saran.

Tej Pratap Yadav: I have formed a Lalu-Rabri morcha and I will tour 20 seats in Bihar. We will support independents and contestants who can work for the country. You can say whether it's against the party or anything that you like, but these are Independent candidates which means that they will not be backing any party. I have got in touch with independents in these 20 seats.

Tej Pratap Yadav: I wanted tickets for RJD workers who have helped the party grow. There is nothing wrong with it. (Tej Pratap Yadav, former health minister of Bihar, had resigned as the patron of the students' wing of the RJD recently after the party refused to give tickets to candidates of his choice. "Nadaan hain wo log jo mujhe nadaan samajhte hain. Kaun kitne pani me hai mujhe pata hai," he had tweeted later.)

Next up is Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of former Bihar chief ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi

K Kavitha: Family name has advantages as well as disadvantages. But the main question is if parties fulfil the election promises or is it just a jumlas. We should discuss about the promises. We will support a non-Congress, non-BJP PM.

K Kavitha: Federal Front is non-Congress, non-BJP. Dynasty is in every state and it is more in regional parties because the entire family takes part in politics. Elections are a contest and if people choose us, then we will represent them.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi lawmaker K Kavitha also joins in for a discussion on dynasty politics and politics in South India.

Sudhindra Bhadoria: BJP also has many allies and that is how politics is today. Everyone needs allies.

Sudhindra Bhadoria: A new history will be written on May 23. BJP admitted that the promises it made in 2014 were jumlas.

Sudhindra Bhadoria: Is this discourse that opposition is SARAB right? Is this the language that political leaders should speak. (Narendra Modi had recently coined the acronym SARAB for the Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Lok Dal and Bahujan Samaj Party alliance, and had advised people to stay away from it.

Sudhindra Bhadoria: Mahagathbandhan's DNA is about the fight for ideology. Modi and his party can try as much as they want but the SP-BSP alliance will achieve its aim. SP-BSP alliance is equidistant from BJP and Congress.

Next up is Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Sudhindra Bhadoria.

Piyush Goyal: My prediction for 2014 was accurate. Our analysis is that BJP will win 297-303 seats and this has got nothing to do with Balakot airstrike. I am confident NDA will win 2/3rd majority. Even after BJP gets a majority on its own, we will take along our allies with us.

Piyush Goyal: We have ended the role of middlemen and corruption. There are no scams now. The coming 10-15 years will be India's golden age.

Piyush Goyal: NDA will come back to power with a 2/3rd majority in this election.

Piyush Goyal: Our schemes are to help farmers, they are not doled out with elections in mind.

Piyush Goyal: The DNA of the country has changed a lot in the last few years. The youth wants progress and development, not freebies. In 1975, there was a famous dialogue -'mein aaj bhi phenke paise nahi uthata'. In 1971, Congress slogan was garibi hatao, in 2004 it was Congress ka haath garibo ke saath. So they have nothing new to offer. They are only fooling the country. They want the people to remain poor.

Piyush Goyal: NYAY scheme is just a false promise. It is like a "sheikh chilli ke sapne". NYAY scheme will push the country towards poverty. Our government wants to make the country self-reliant and not a poor country. Congress should clarify how will  it fund the NYAY scheme? Will they remove all the subsidy schemes?

Piyush Goyal: Our government has never taken decisions based on election dates. Our PM does not work like that. If a decision is in the country's interest, then it will be taken irrespective of elections.

Is Rahul Gandhi is the main opponent? Piyush Goyal says you are asking this question on April Fools Day.

Piyush Goyal: We want Rahul to be our rival so that our seat share increases. We will ensure Rahul Gandhi loses from Amethi and Wayanad.

Piyush Goyal: I have been to Tamil Nadu and Modi's work speaks for himself. People love him in Tamil Nadu. He is loved and respected across the country. BJP has given the responsibility to Modiji and he is doing great work.

Piyush Goyal: A section of media is the opposition today. Some media personalities used to decide the ministry in the Congress regime. Modi has immense respect in the entire country.

Piyush Goyal: Opposition talking just about Balakot strike is idiotic. We have done so many development works. We are seeking votes on the basis of development. But we want to make it clear that if anyone tries to attack us, then we will give a befitting reply. Congress leadership has no will to act against terror. Why did they not act after the 2008 terror attacks?

Piyush Goyal: We made changes in how data is logged for trains and achieved a great deal in ensuring punctuality of Railways. Today, no trains are late by 8-10 hours which was a very common thing in the past.

Piyush Goyal: Opposition has no issue so it is trying to raise questions about irrelevant issues and data. Our data is credible and the method to measure them keeps on changing. There is no job crisis.

Piyush Goyal: In 2014, India was among the most fragile economies. But for the last three years, India has been among the five fastest growing economies. There has been development and progress while our government has controlled inflation and price rise. It has never happened in the country's history that there has been progress and development for five years. The last five years have been a golden period for India.

Piyush Goyal: The USP of the country is Modi's strong leadership and the potential of the people. The entire world is looking towards India today and they are standing with us on all the issues, be it tackling terror or dealing with corruption.

Piyush Goyal: The journey of the last five years has seen Narendra Modi give a new DNA to the country. It has changed tremendously. Now the country is safe and secure, is developing. The leadership is strong, decisive and development-oriented.

Piyush Goyal, Railway Minister, joins in for the next session

Nirahua: I had met Akhilesh Yadav a few years back and he had offered me a ticket to contest election but I refused. But now I see that opposition has joined hands and does not want Narendra Modi to become the prime minister as he is doing great work. It is then that I decided to join politics.

Nirahua: I am a Yadav and if we think that since he is a Yadav, then he is a Samajwadi Party member, then it is wrong. A Yadav who is in the defence force does not support a political party, he loves his country and is a patriot.

Malini Awasthi: I went to meet a Pulwama martyr's family. The martyr's father told me that I should speak to his son's wife and convince her to join the force as he is educated and has good height. This is nationalism and it has been our history.

Manoj Tiwari: The Delhi CM is not willing to give the sanction to prosecute those who shouted "Bharat tere tukde honge". What kind of politics is this?

Malini Awasthi: If nationalism is an election topic, then it is a good sign. The country needs to respect the soldiers irrespective of whether there is a war or not. Soldiers are respected when there is war, like it was in 1971 and Kargil. It is no longer the case.

Malini Awasthi: Cleanliness was never an issue. But it takes a very strong will to talk about it and PM Narendra Modi did that. His first words after becoming an MP from the seat was that we live in a filthy environment and it should change.

Manoj Tiwari: The poor in Purvanchal have always been ignored. Modi changed it. He said India will develop only if Purvanchal develops. No one had spoken about the region earlier.

Manoj Tiwari: Rahul Gandhi has been an MP from the region but did he ever think about toilets in villages? No, never. '5 saal aur ab Modi ki zarurat hai', Tiwari sings while praising Modi.

Nirahua: There is a misconception that if a person belongs to a particular caste, then he or she will be from a particular party. But it is no longer true. It is good to form organisations and give voice to a caste, but they should work for the country. The country wants Modi as the prime minister

Malini Awasthi: This election is not about you, but it is about the country's future

Malini Awasthi: Narendra Modi has broken the stranglehold of caste on politics in Bihar and UP.

Malini Awasthi: Uttar Pradesh has left caste politics behind and wants development now.

Manoj Tiwari: Is our DNA about casteism, is our DNA about regionalism, is our DNA about supporting terrorists? No, our DNA is about the country.

Nirahua starts by singing a Bhojpuri song praising Modi.

Next up is a session with Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, BJP leader Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' and folk singer Malini Awasthi for a discussion on Poorvanchal politics.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore: I am a soldier, I am a sportsperson, we ensure that we win when we get into a fight.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore: This is a government of kaamdaars. Earlier governments were of the naamdaars. We have already prepared a plan for the first 100 days when we come back to power after the election. Our government will now ensure that the pace of development increases.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Rahul Gandhi contesting from Amethi and Wayanad: I don't want to say anything. He will not get a place to run away. Till when will he run away?

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore: Now things have improved, we have tried to bring development to every village.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore: Now, India does not need the permission of bigger powers to conduct any operation. But when Narasimha Rao tried to conduct a nuclear test, he backed out after the bigger powers showed him the evidence that India was planning a nuclear test.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore: Previously, the policy was that while India was strong, a small nation was creating trouble and launching terror attacks. Now the policy has changed. Defence forces don't want war but we should have the capability to demonstrate our strength.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore: If the country is strong and developed, then all of us will become strong and our reputation will also increase. I am a soldier and I will do my bit for the country. This battle if for India's future and we want to build the country's reputation. We have to work for a strong country. This is Mahabharat. Voters need to choose their sides. Either they are with the good or they will be with the bad elements.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore: I cannot comment on the number of seats BJP will win in Rajasthan. I am just a soldier. Our president will analyse about the seats that the party will win. The voters of Rajasthan will repose their faith in the BJP in Lok Sabha election. Earlier, politicians were looked upon as liars. But now the image has changed and this has happened because of Narendra Modi.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on NYAY scheme: Rahul Gandhi is clueless. The opposition is losing ground. Rahul Gandhi is not the face of opposition. Even the Congress is not clear about NYAY, so they talk about Rs 72,000, then it becomes Rs 72,000 crore or Rs 25,000 crore. They have no plan as they will not come to power and are making tall promises.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore: The opposition is highly impressed with our government that is why all of them have come together. Their only agenda is Modi hatao just like it is the agenda of a few other countries. In 2019, all the good are on one side and the other side is full of parties with a negative mindset.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore: It has become our habit to talk about anti-incumbency. But there can be pro-incumbency too and people want a strong government which works for the development of the country. The entire world is today talking about India. We have the same officers, same people, same defence forces as we had in 2014 but now we have a strong leadership.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore: In the last five years, people have seen my work. I have maintained a very high standard of discourse in my political life just like I had in the Army. There were question marks on PM Narendra Modi's policies when he became the prime minister, 'par unhone Pakistani ko kutniti mein bahut kuta'. People knew about our names in 2014, now they know about the work done by the Modi government.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports joins Zee News for the next session.

Shazia Ilmi: The opposition parties can oppose Modi but does that mean they should back Pakistan and terrorists? They are seeking proofs from scientists and armed forces instead of praising them.

Anupriya Patel: The people on the ground want the basic necessities like toilets. LPG connections and the Central government has fulfilled those promises.

Next up is a discussion on 'Evidence Politics' with BJP's Shazia Ilmi, Samajwadi Party's Abu Azmi and Apna Dal's Anupriya Patel.

Subramanian Swamy: Ayodhya dispute cannot be solved through mediation. Hindus believe Ram was born in Ayodhya where the Babri Masjid stood. So it is a question of faith. Hindus cannot vacate Ayodhya as Ram was born there. Muslims need to give up their claims.

Subramanian Swamy: Priyanka Gandhi will have no impact on election. Congress' NYAY scheme also has no concrete calculation. It is not a scheme, it is just like Arun Jaitley's proposal.

Subramanian Swamy: I am not a chowkidar, I am a thinker who thinks about how to get criminals punished. Robert Vadra will be arrested soon. Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are also out on bail. Rahul Gandhi has four passports. His name is Raul Vinci.

Subramanian Swamy: I am not a chowkidar. I am a Brahmin and not chowkidar. If someone is a chowkidar then he or she cannot be a Brahmin. I do not agree with Modi's definition of chowkidar.

Subramanian Swamy: Jaitley has failed on economic front. I also explain how to course correct the economic policies.

Subramanian Swamy: There have been a lot of people who don't know economics but become the Finance Minister. Jaitley and Chidambaram are not economists. Manmohan Singh was a finance minister who knew economics.

Subramanian Swamy: I am not happy with how India's economic policy has been tackled by the Finance Ministry. Demonetisation was not properly implemented although the concept was good. There are still a lot of taxes and there is no clear policy on it. Jaitley does not know economics. I have no love for Arun Jaitley. I do not even know him.

Subramanian Swamy: Modi will be back in power in 2019. He has no challenge. More than Brand Modi, it is BJP's Hindutva and nationalism which will ensure the party's win in 2019. Even in 2014 there was no Brand Modi, it was a media creation.

Next session on Zee News' India Ka DNA is with Subramanian Swamy, Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha.

General VK Singh on the question if he will be the External Affairs Minister of India after the general election as Sushma Swaraj is not contesting the poll: I am a soldier and I am working for the success of our party in the election.

General VK Singh: The voters are happy and full of josh due to the government's decisive stand on terrorism.

General VK Singh: The opposition is clueless. There are some missions which take time and cannot be tied to election dates. So to connect the ASAT missile to the election is not right. I pity the opposition and the Congress when they question the scientists and defence forces.

Keshav Prasad Maurya: Congress is in the habit of making fun of the poor. In 2014, they joked about Modiji's chaiwala origin. Now they are using very crude language about chowkidars and saying chowkidar is chor.

General VK Singh: We have a robust foreign policy. China has supported Pakistan but we have very good relationship with Saudi Arabia, USA, France, Russia and many other countries. Other countries have an army but in Pakistan the army has a country. Their existence is based on anti-India stand.

Keshav Prasad Maurya: Congress, SP and BSP have joined hands in UP but it will not succeed. There is no caste politics in the state now but the talk is about development. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's entry has resulted in Rahul Gandhi moving to Wayanad for Lok Sabha election. So what is their strength? Amit Shah has spoken about winning more than 73 seats in UP and we will get this number.

Keshav Prasad Maurya on Amit Shah's mission 74 in UP: We are in a better position in 2019 than we were in 2014. SP-BSP is not a gathbandhan but thagbandhan. They do not want a strong government but the country wants a strong government under the leadership of Narendra Modi.

Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy UP CM: An adviser to the Congress leadership has spoken and questioned our armed forces. Even Pakistani leaders have not spoken like this but Congress and Samajwadi leaders have made such statements. The country believes in the armed forces but there are some leaders who do not trust them.

Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh joins Zee News' India Ka DNA in the discussion along with General VK Singh.

General VK Singh: I am angry when someone questions our armed forces. The top leadership took a tough question that India will not remain silent in the face of incessant terror attacks. This was the first time since 1971 that our air force crossed the border. Those who question our forces cannot be defined in terms of normal political discourse. They have fallen so low that they have lost the confidence of the people.

General VK Singh: I am not contesting the election looking for a fight, but to serve and earn the confidence of the people. We are seeking votes on the basis of our performance in the last five years.

Zee News' India Ka DNA begins with an interaction with MoS External Affairs General VK Singh.
