Dhar/Sheopur: Fifteen people, including a groom, were killed and 22 injured, in two separate road accidents, both involving wedding parties, in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.

In the first accident, which took place on the Agra-Mumbai National Highway in Khargone district this morning, nine members of a family, including the groom, were killed when a container-truck hit their car, an official said.


Two persons were injured in the incident. They have been taken to Indore for treatment, the official said.


The marriage party was on its way to Sirsi village in Dhar district from Icchawar town in Sehore. The container- truck hit the car at the Ganpati ghat section of the highway in Khargone. Eight persons died on the spot while one succumbed to his injuries later, Dharampuri's tehsildar R S Guha said.


The groom, Mukesh Jaat (30), was among those who died. The other victims were identified as Teena Jaat (12), Suresh Jaat (26), Nandram Jaat (30), Radheshyam Jaat (26), Mahesh Jaat (32), Babulal Jaat (32), Kailash Jaat (42) and the truck driver Suresh (32).


A case has been registered at Maheshwar police station, Additional SP Antar Singh Kanesh said.


In another mishap near Karahal tehsil of Sheopur district, six members of a marriage party were killed and 20 others injured when a tractor-trolley, on which they were travelling, overturned, police said.


The victims were returning from Bhela Bhemlat village to their hamlet in Bhotipura after a wedding ceremony when the trolley got overturned, Karahal police station in-charge Sunil Sharma said.


The deceased were identified as Ramdas (35), Sanjay (40), Vishal (12), Soni (26), Ramhet (40) and Ramcharan (40), the police said, adding the injured were admitted to a hospital in Karahal.
