Bhopal: Praveen Yadav, one of the key accused in the high-profile Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) or Vyapam scam, ended his life by committing suicide on Wednesday.
According to ANI, Praveen Yadav committed suicide at his residence in Madhya Pradesh's Morena.
The Vyapam scam, which cast a shadow on the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in MP, pertains to alleged corruption in conducting examinations for recruitment to various state government jobs.
The massive recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh, estimated to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore, is believed to be running for over a decade.
The scam pertains to manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB).
The scam is related to the pre-medical test and recruitment to various government services, including teachers, constables and food inspectors.
It first came to light when the local police busted a racket that helped candidates clear the PMT through unfair means.
Further investigation by the MP Police uncovered fraud in various other exams for State Government jobs.
Many high-profile persons, including senior IAS and IPS officials, retired judges, journalists and politicians are alleged to be linked with the MPPEB scam.
