BJP helped Sadhvi Pragya in getting bail, alleges Congress

Mumbai: Following Sadhvi Pragya Thakur's accusations of being a victim of Congress' conspiracy, the grand old party on Friday said it was the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that helped the former in getting bail.

Congress' Raju Waghmare quoted the government's counsel in the Malegaon Blast case, who alleged the National Investigation Agency (NIA) of putting pressure on her to go slow, saying that there was a scheme to let Pragya get bail.

"The Congress Party has a history that it always deals fairly with any individual or any political party. The Congress has never resorted to revenge politics. Regarding Sadhvi Pragya case, the government lawyer Rohini Salian said that the NIA is putting pressure on her to go slow. If the government lawyer says this, it shows there is conspiracy to let Sadhvi Pragya get bail, and not to put charges against her," Waghmare told ANI.

Congress' Surender Rajput resonated the same, saying that the BJP moulded some acts of the Constitution which helped Pragya in getting bail.

"As per the Constitution, the security agencies have put charges against her, and not the Congress. The court must have found her guilty and that is she why she was in jail for so long. However, the BJP moulded some acts of the Constitution which helped her in getting bail. The court is yet to give its verdict regarding the same. Sadhvi Pragya should remain patience. She is a criminal and she will be given stringent punishment by the court," Rajput told ANI.

Days after getting bail from the Bombay High Court, Sadhvi Pragya yesterday alleged that she was a victim of the Congress government's conspiracy.

"I am a victim of Congress government's conspiracy, I suffered nine years of injustice," Thakur said.

Thakur criticised Congress leader P Chidambaram for linking saffron to terrorism.

"For misbeliever, saffron is always linked to terrorism, because they are afraid of it. For the demon, saffron is the strongest weapon," she added.

Thakur said she would undergo treatment and blamed the Mumbai Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) for her ailment.

"In 2008, I was illegally taken by the ATS Mumbai and for 13 days I was held captive. I was tortured. I used to be physically fit, but I am not fit now and the ATS is responsible for that," she said.

On Tuesday, Thakur was granted bail. She was directed to submit her passport to the National Investigative Agency (NIA) court and appear on the dates mentioned before the trial court.

The NIA had informed the court that it had no objection to the court granting bail to Thakur.

The blast took place on September 29, 2008 opposite the Shakil Goods Transport Company in Malegaon. It was caused by an explosive device fitted to a motorcycle.

In 2009, the ATS chargesheeted 12 alleged 'Hindu extremists', including Col. Purohit and Thakur for the crime.

The ATS chargesheet stated that Thakur 's scooter was used for the blast by prime accused Ram Kalsangra (absconding).
