Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious in the Maharashtra civic polls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the BJP team in Maharashtra after it notched spectacular victories, bagging eight of the 10 major civic bodies.

- The BJP showcased an impressive performance by winning 82 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

- BJP's registered big win in BMC elections. While Shiv Sena bagged 84, its alliance partner the BJP won 82 seats. Maharashtra BJP president Raosaheb Danve said his party may be able to rule BMC with the support of some independents.

- The 2017 civic polls are Congress' worst performance in 20 years.

- BJP makes inroads in Nashik. The party bagged the 112-member civic body.

- The BJP ruling also performed well in Amravati and won 45 seats.

- Nagpur too appeared to be going the BJP way.

- The BJP was on its way to topple NCP in the Pune Municipal Corporation.

- Shiv Sena on way to retaining control over the 131-seat Thane Municipal Corporation.

- BJP won Ulhasnagar with 34 seats in its kitty out if the total 78.

- Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation: Total seats 128 – BJP wins 78, Shiv Sena 9, NCP 36, MNS 1 and Others 4.

- Akola Municipal Corporation: Total seats 80 - BJP wins 47, Shiv Sena 9, Congress 11, NCP 6, Independent 1, Bharip 5, and Others 1

- Solapur Municipal Corporation: Total seats 102, out of which BJP bagged 49

- Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation: BJP won 34 seats out of total 78 seats.

- As the results of keenly-contested election to the city civic body BMC came in today, BJP's Atul Shah had the distinction of getting elected through a lottery.

- AIMIM, which had made its maiden entry into the Maharashtra Assembly with two seats in the last polls, won three seats on debut in the BMC elections,
