Sensex tanks 259 points to end at 32,014; Nifty falls below 10K-level

The BSE Sensex tanked 259.48 points to end at 32,014.19 while the NSE Nifty fell 78.85 points to 9,978.55.
The S&P BSE Sensex was 265.98 points or 0.82 percent down at 32,007.69. On the other hand the wider Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too dipped below 10,000 mark. Nifty came down 71.80 points or 0.71 percent to 9985.60.
The S&P BSE Sensex was down 159.11 points or 0.49 percent at 32,114.56. On the other hand the wider Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was down by 54.90 points or 0.55 percent at 10,002.50 points at 12.31 pm.
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 199.21 crore yesterday, as per provisional data released by the stock exchanges. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 308.15 crore.
Major losers were SBI 1.94 percent, Coal India 1.53 percent, Kotak Mahindra Bank 1.51 percent, Dr Reddy's 1.42 percent, NTPC 1.38 percent, ITC 1.30 percent, Power Grid 1.24 percent and ONGC 1.23 percent.
However, Tata Steel and HUL rose 3.97 percent and 1.25 percent, respectively.

Stock markets fall sharply, erasing early gains.
Nifty fell 69.60 points or 0.69 percent to 9,987.80 while the BSE Sensex fell nearly 250 points, or 0.76 percent, lower at 32,029 due to sudden selling pressure in realty, oil & gas, power, energy, banking, capital goods and FMCG counters amid lower Asian cues.
Shares of Tata Steel rallied by 3.50 percent to Rs 621 after the company yesterday posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 921.09 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2017.
Other bright spots were Bajaj Auto, Hindustan Unilever, Cipla, M&M, Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports, TCS, Hero MotoCorp and L&T, rising by up to 2.04 percent.
The wider Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) traded higher by 18.70 points or 0.19 percent at 10,076.10 points at 9.30 am.
On the other hand, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index Sensex of the BSE traded at 32,320.40 points -- up 46.73 points, or 0.14 percent.
The rupee firmed up 5 paise to 63.75 against the US dollar in early trade on fresh selling of the American currency by exporters and banks amid a higher opening in the domestic equity market.
The Sensex opens 57 points higher at 32341.05 with 17 components in green while the NSE Nifty opened at 10,068.35
