Marking the fourth consecutive day of losses, the indices experienced a significant dip of over 1 per cent. The adverse impact of crude oil prices surpassing the $90 per barrel mark further exacerbated the market's downtrend.

The 30-share BSE Sensex witnessed a staggering decline of 825.74 points, translating to a 1.26 per cent plunge, settling at 64,571.88. Intraday figures painted a bleaker picture as it plummeted by 894.94 points or 1.36 per cent, reaching 64,502.68.

Similarly, the Nifty recorded a sharp decline of 260.90 points or 1.34 per cent, closing at 19,281.75. Over the span of four trading sessions since Wednesday, the Sensex endured a cumulative loss of 1,925 points, breaching the critical 65,000 mark, while the Nifty witnessed a significant dip of approximately 530 points.
