New Delhi: Freedom 251 makers Ringing Bells announced that they have begun delivery of 65,000 units of the Rs 251 smartphones across India.
Earlier in July, the company had delivered 5,000 units of the Freedom 251 smartphones.
After announcing the Rs 251 device in February this year, controversy had surrounded the company with some even calling it a scam. However, after much prolonged promise, the company delivered its first 5,000 units of devices in July.
On Monday, Ringing Bells announced that it has begun the delivery of 65,000 units of Freedom 251 to various states in India.
Some of the states include West Bengal, Haryana, Himachal, Bihar, Uttarakhand, New Delhi, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
"Ringing Bells is all set to fulfill its promise of delivering 2,00,000 smartphones to the customers. We started the process of lottery few days back, and now we are dispatching the units to the people," said the company in a statement.
Post the launch in February, Ringing Bells announced that it had received over 7 crore registrations for Freedom 251.
The company is accepting only Cash on Delivery of the device including a delivery charge of Rs 49.
