New Delhi: Smartphone maker Huawei launched the P20, P20 Pro at an event at Paris, France. The smartphones will be available in India from the next week.
The P20 is priced at 649 euros (Approximately Rs 53,000) while the P20 Pro model will come at 899 euros (Approximately Rs 73,000).
P20 with 5.8-inch screen features a Leica dual camera and P20 Pro with 6.1-inch screen comes with Leica triple camera and 5x Hybrid Zoom.
Both the devices feature a 24MP selfie camera with artificial intelligence (AI) beautification and 3D portrait lighting.
The phones also feature a colour temperature sensor for better colour reproduction. In partnership with Google, the new series supports Google ARCore delivering advanced augmented reality (AR) capabilities, the company said.
The 'HUAWEI P20 Series' devices support six-axis stabilisation and 960fps super slow motion. It also includes on-device Prisma processing, which supports real-time filter recommendations based on scene and object recognition.
With camera-rich features and aggressive pricing, the P20 series represent Huawei`s fresh attempt to compete head-to-head with Samsung`s Galaxy S9 and the iPhone X in the increasingly look-alike market for smartphones.
"We look for inspiration from artists to continuously evolve our approach to design and innovation. The 'HUAWEI P20 Series' builds on the legacy of our collaboration with Leica," Richard Yu, Chief Executive Officer, Huawei Consumer Business Group, said in a statement.
Huawei`s weakest European markets are Britain, with 5 percent share and France, where it ships 6 percent of the smartphones sold here, but it is seeking to build its presence.
Still, it has begun to face more competition in Europe from a resurgent Nokia phones, run by HMD Global, and Chinese rival Xiaomi , Counterpoint analyst Peter Richardson said.
The market share gains on the continent have helped Huawei offset the company`s exclusion from the world`s most profitable market for phone sellers, the United States.
Targeting Huawei, the chairman of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission said last week it planned to take "proactive steps" to ensure the integrity of the country`s communications supply chain.
