New Delhi: Samsung has made a fresh attempt at salvaging the reputation of the Galaxy Note 7 by relaunching the device after taking corrective action with the defective battery in the handset.
The South Korean electronics giant had put the sales of Galaxy Note 7 to halt and made a global recall of the handsets after repeated reports of the Galaxy Note 7 catching fire coming from different parts of the world. The company had identified faulty battery as the reason for the handset fire.
Samsung had given customers to either opt for a replacement with a new safe battery or a full refund.
"For customers who already have Galaxy Note 7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks," Samsung had said in a statement. The company went on to say that it would work closely with its "partners to ensure the replacement experience is as convenient and efficient as possible."
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is the first device in the Note family to be water resistant to a maximum depth of 1.5 metre upto 30 minutes.
The device is dust-proof and the display is 30 per centstronger and 20 percent more scratch resistant from its predecessor. It has 12MP rear and 5MP front camera, 64GB onboard memory and 3,500 mAh battery.
Galaxy Note 7 comes with a 5.7-inch QHD super AMOLED dual-curved display protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The Galaxy Note7 was supposed to hit stores in India on September 2. But due to the battery issues, the launch was deferred indefinitely.
