New Delhi: Chinese handset maker Xiaomi is all set to announce its first new product for the year in India on Wednesday.
Xiaomi has been releasing series of tweets and teaser posts lately that hint at the launch of Redmi Note 5 – touted to be the successor to Redmi Note 4.
Although Xiaomi has not clearly mentioned as to which device it will launch today, the name "redminote5" was spotted in the code of the Mi.com website. This led to media speculations that the upcoming device will be Redmi Note 5.
Xiaomi has tweeted:

A lot about the Redmi Note 5 has already been leaked online. Based on these leaked reports, it seems that the Redmi Note 5 will have an 18:9 aspect ratio with bezel-less design. It may feature a 5.99-inch full-HD+ display, Android 8.0 Oreo-based MIUI 9 build. Under the hood the device may house a Snapdragon 636 processor.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 may be priced a tad above Rs 15,000 as per leaked reports. The handset will most likely be up for flash sale next week on both Mi.com and Flipkart.
A recent teaser release by Xiaomi also hints at launch of one more device today. The teaser video just shows a little edge of a mystery device and that doesn’t resemble a smartphone. People are shown looking at a slim device from various angles fuelling speculations on the launch of its Mi TV 4.
