28-year-old girl celebrating birthday at pub in Kamala Mills complex dies in fire

MUMBAI: A woman who was celebrating her 29th birthday at a rooftop restaurant in Kamala Mills complex in Mumbai was among those who lost their lives in the massive blaze on Thursday night. A video shot minutes before the fire erupted shows her cutting her birthday cake.

Fourteen people including 11 were women were killed in the massive fire that engulfed Kamala Mills complex on Thursday night. Twenty three others were also injured in the mishap.

The fire was reported around 12.30 am from a rooftop restaurant in The Kamla Trade House. It quickly spread to another pub and a restaurant in the vicinity. Over 200 people on the premises were trapped in the fire.

More than 12 fire tenders were rushed to fight the blaze which was brought under control around 6.30 am. Doctors claimed that most of the people died due to suffocation.
