Rains to lash Mumbai for next 3 days, says IMD

Mumbai is experiencing severe waterlogging, traffic jams, choked drains and delayed trains.

  • A case has been filed against two builders in Pune wall collapse incident under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 304 and 337. The case has been registered under Kondhwa police station. The wall was of Alkon Stylis and the construction work was done by Kanchan Builder. The case has been filed against Kanchan Builder's Pankaj Vora, Alkon Stylis' Jagdish Agarwal and other site engineers.

  • About 1.5 metres of platform edge of platform number 3 towards dead end cave in at Virar Station at about 2 am on 29.6.19. There is no repercussion on trains due to this as its a safe distance from the stop mark. Trains are being received and dispatched normally from the platform.   • According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, 39 incidents of short circuit, 104 incidents of uprooting of trees or falling of tree branches were reported from various parts of the city.

     

  • Central Railway cancelled some passenger trains, between Mumbai and Pune, after IMD warned of heavy rainfalls. A press release issued by the Central Railway said, Mumbai-Pune Pragati Express, Mumbai-Pune Sinhagad Express, Bhusaval-Mumbai Passenger, Pune-Panvel Passenger have been cancelled on Saturday and Sunday. The Bhusaval-Pune Express has been diverted through Daund-Manmad.
    Mumbai-Bhusaval Passenger will remained cancelled till July 1, it said.

     

  • Mumbai's suburban local trains are largely unaffected by the rains and are running as per their schedule.

  • Mumbai: Two cars damaged in Sion Koliwada Punjabi Camp after a tree fell down on them, following heavy rainfall in the area on Saturday. 

  • According to BMC, Mumbai City received 127 mm rainfall, western suburbs received 170 mm rainfall and eastern suburbs received 197mm rainfall, in last 24 hours.

  • According to the Skymet, Mumbai has so far recorded 404 mm of rains against the average of 493 mm."The off-shore trough along the West Coast and the cyclonic circulation over east-central Arabian Sea have kept the Monsoon active to vigorous over Mumbai and nearby coastal areas of Konkan region," the Skymet said. 

  • The heavy downpour will not stop for the next three days and the temperature will be around 25 degree Celsius, said IMD. 

  • "Very active monsoon conditions over west coast, with deep westerlies. Heavy rainfall expected in Mumbai, Thane and around west coast," India Meteorological Department, Mumbai.

  • "Heavy rain likely in city and suburbs with very heavy falls," IMD Mumbai forecast for next 24 hours. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 29 degree Celcius and the minimum around 24 degree Celcius.

     

     

  • A wall collapsed in Mumbai's Chembur area on auto-rickshaws around 2 am on Saturday. No casualties have been reported. Rescue operations are underway.

     

Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and several parts of Maharashtra on Saturday. The India Meteorological Department has forecasted that the heavy rainfall will continue till June 29. At least three people were killed in Mumbai due to rain-related incidents and 14 in Pune after a wall collapsed in the parking lot Friday. The maximum city is experiencing severe waterlogging, traffic jams, choked drains and delayed trains.
