Mumbai: On May 13, an incident took place on Platform 7 of Kurla railway station in Mumbai, which left the travellers completely petrified.
A 19-year-old girl was run over by a goods train. Thank goodness, she was brought out from under the train safely. She had just suffered an injury near her left eye.
The nail-biting incident was recorded by CCTV camera installed at the platform.
After meeting her friend in Kurla, Bhandup resident Pratiksha Natekar was returning at around 11 am.
She was wearing her earphones and speaking to a friend over the phone while walking on the tracks towards platform 7.
"As she was busy over the phone, she didn't hear a goods train thundering down the tracks. When she suddenly looked up the train had already reached her. She panicked and ran first towards the platform and then straight into the train," Mid-day quoted senior police inspector Ashok Bhorade from Kurla Government Railway Police as saying.
The train knocked her down and ran over her. By the time the driver applied brakes, the first wagon had already passed over her.
The miracle happened as Natekar was pulled out safe and sound.
