MUMBAI: Yug Tuli, the co-owner of Mojo's Bistro pub, has been arrested by Mumbai Police in the Kamala mills fire case.

The police have already arrested Yug Pathak, the other owner of Mojo's Bistro.

Last week, a sessions court in Mumbai rejected the anticipatory bail application of Yug Tuli.

Seeking pre-arrest bail, Tuli's lawyer contended the owners of Mojo's Bistro could not be blamed for the Kamala Mills tragedy. The fire had started from the adjoining 1 Above pub, he further argued.

However, the prosecution said that a report of the Mumbai Fire Brigade, as well as eyewitnesses reports, said the fire had started at Mojo's Bistro. The fire department said the blaze possibly started at Mojo's Bistro due to the flying charcoal embers of a hookah.

A massive fire had broken out at Kamla Mills Compound in the Lower Parel locality of Mumbai on December 29 killing 14 people and injuring 30.

Mojo's owners were booked under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life and personal safety of others) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner is expected to submit an inquiry report in the case to the Maharashtra government by January 19.

Meanwhile, the three owners of '1 Above' pub who were arrested by the Mumbai Police earlier were remanded to police custody till January 17.
