MUMBAI: The body of an aspiring model, stuffed inside a large suitcase, was found from the roadside in Malad, Mumbai, on Monday.

Mansi Dixit, aged around 20 years, had moved from Kota, Rajasthan, to pursue her dream of modelling in the maximum city. She was a student and was involved in other business ventures such as event management, designing, etc alongside. Her office was situated next to the Infinity Mall in Andheri. 

The police have arrested 19-year-old fellow student Muzammil Sayyed, a resident of Hyderabad, who lives in Millat Nagar, Andheri (West), for the murder.

On Monday afternoon, the travelling bag containing the model's body was recovered from bank road, near at Mindspace, a commercial hub, in Malad (West).

According to police, the accused and victim knew each other.

Muzammil had called the model to his flat. Within minutes of their meeting, the duo had a heated argument. A scuffle followed, after which the accused killed Mansi with a heavy object. 

Preliminary investigations reveal, Muzammil then stuffed the dead body in a travel bag and booked an Ola to Mumbai international airport. Midway, he asked the driver to take the back road of Mindspace in Malad West, which is reportedly isolated. He got off near Mindspace, after telling the driver he needs to cover the rest of the distance on the rickshaw. 

The accused then allegedly dumped the bag near a bush and took a rickshaw to return home. 

After some time, the Ola driver who happened to drive through the same road spotted the bag. He immediately alerted police and the accused was held within four hours.

A case has been registered by the police.

A forensic team arrived on spot to recover the body and transferred it to the hospital for postmortem.

According to police, the victim's hands and neck were tied with rope. 

Officials of Bangurnagar police station are conducting the further probe. 

“Under Bangur Nagar police station limits, the body of a woman was found inside a suitcase. On the basis of evidence, we have arrested a 19-year-old man who is a resident of Hyderabad. Further investigation is underway,” SP Nishandar, DCP Zone -11, told ANI.
