Mumbai: Columnist Shobhaa De has drawn frown again. This time, Shobhaa tried to poke fun at the Mumbai Police with her tweet. However, it did not go down well with the Mumbai Police, which gave a stern reply to the author-columnist.
On Tuesday evening, De had tweeted a picture of an overweight policeman with a caption saying, “Heavy police bandobast in the city today!”
Almost three hours later, the Mumbai Police, through their official Twitter handle @MumbaiPolice, responded to the tweet, saying: “We love puns too Ms. De but this one is totally misplaced. Uniform/official not ours. We expect better from responsible citizens like you.”
The tweet went viral and got over 1,000 comments, most of them hailing the Mumbai Police and lashing out at De.
The Mumbai Police pinned the tweet on their homepage.
Here is what De tweeted:

Even if uniform was of @MumbaiPolice , so what?
Isn't it ironic that 'liberals' are mocking one's obesity!
Utterly shameful.
Kudos to @MumbaiPolice for giving a much needed Slap on the face to @DeShobhaa for insulting Men in Uniform without verifying facts pic.twitter.com/l4tTq8m9V7

@MumbaiPolice for the sharp retort. Fat shaming is vulgar, sickening and a despicable crime against human dignity.
