Mumbai: A day after facing heavy criticism for tweeting an image of an overweight man in police uniform, columnist and author Shobhaa De on Wednesday tweeted an `apology` couple with an advice, which instigated another round of trolling.
On Tuesday evening, De posted a picture showing an overweight policeman holding a mobile phone close to his ear while sitting on a chair and tweeted: 'Heavy police Bandobast in Mumbai today!' Notably, Mumbaikars cast their ballots for the 227-member Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) yesterday.
In response to her tweet, the Mumbai Police said: “We love puns too Ms De but this one is totally imisplaced. Uniform/official not ours. We expect better from responsible citizens like you.”
After being trolled on the social media, De tweeted an apology today: “Mumbai/Maharashtra Police, pranaam. No offence intended. M.P. police, consult a dietician,if it's an asli ,undoctored image doing the rounds”. However, her “consult a dietician” advise has not gone down well with Twitterati.
Here are some of the responses:
@DeShobhaa and where does one consult to get a cure for mindless word-vomit?
